Welcome to Structured Creativity Consulting! For 30 years I have worked in education as a teacher, coach, building level administrator, central office administrator, consultant, author, curriculum writer, mentor and program developer. I have had the opportunity to collaborate with various schools and businesses to develop effective ways of teaching, building relationships and building programs that impact individuals and entire communities.
In 2018, I developed the Solution-Centered Mindset in response to an author stating that the process of differentiation of instruction does not work. I truly believe in meeting people at their level and moving them forward. I taught in a full inclusion classroom for many years and over time it became obvious that mainstream teaching does not work for all students. I focused on how to differentiate in my classroom and the results were amazing. There was a great deal of work on the front end but the results were evident. My take on what the author was stating was that the basics need to be taught but differentiation is way too difficult to implement effectively. I agree that the basics need to be taught more, but I thought differentiation was worth the time and effort. But for the masses to implement differentiation it required simplification.
This is the space in which the Solution-Centered Mindset was developed. The process simplifies differentiating for teachers and allows lesson development to reach more students.
After a great deal of work, I came to realize that the Solution-Centered Mindset is more than just curriculum development, it is a way to think that can be used to build programs and create structure for both groups and individuals. It formalizes a process of thinking that many use daily but few realize.
